Job Description Of A Chef Cook : How Long To Cook A 23 Pound Turkey : Slow Cooker 6 Qt. Job Description Of A Chef Cook
"Italian Pedler Girl on the Rialto, Venice" Twas kinda one of those days at work (perhaps it was the high humidity, which ended in a thunderous downpour) when tempers flare. One of my fellow chefs got cussed out by a line cook, who then packed up his tools and departed the premises (not to be back, not having said the things he said.) I had to leave for a while to take my mother to the doctor, and when I came back, it was my turn. I made a rather ill-considered statement to one of my cooks, and he in turn told me in Cheneyesque terms what he thought of me, and then swatted at a box of cannoli shells (the joy of life is in the details), which came flying across the table at me and sent a mini-shower of shells screaming at me, like one of those cluster bombs. Fortunately, I was unharmed, and after a cooling off period in the chef's office we returned to our respective positions, not a lot the worse for wear. The satisfactions of work are relatively hidden, and, perhaps, not as rewarding as they should be. I feed people, but they don't come up to me and say, "Thanks, chef, because of you I'm not going to starve today." I wouldn't call myself the world's greatest chef, or even the greatest banquet chef. I'm competent, and it's the logistics aspect of the job I enjoy, more than anything. There's only one thing I think I do better than anyone. Okay, I won't say I do it better than anyone, but I have yet to see anyone who does it better than me. That, of course, is find vernacular photos, I mean find great vernacular photos. There are some fantastic eyes here on flickr, photo-finders who are a match for me, eye for eye, but I'm not sure they are "obsessive" matches for me. But lately I've been in a bit of a funk. I'm a Dracula who needs a new victim every so often. Sure, I've got some great photos lying around that I haven't scanned onto Flickr, but those are photos I've had in my collection for a while. I want new photos, virgin photos, photos I've yet to possess. So here, with this photo, you have an almost pornographic glimpse into my existence. I bought this photo last week on Ebay. Amazingly, no one else submitted a bid. Maybe the seller (a seller, by the way, who himself has a great eye) didn't emphasize the fact that this was an early Kodak, though that info was in his description (of course, I knew without being told). He didn't get all excited about how good this photo was. If I noticed that the photo was damaged, I didn't pay any attention. The image itself is in very good condition---it's only the mount, and the white part of the image that is damaged. Anyway, I bought it, and here it is. Do I think it's great? Yeah, I think it's great. Chef Cook cake This one was fun to make as it was for a retired chef. The colour orange was a specific request and I think it worked well in the end. I loved making the miniture cake and pasty!
